Somewhere
Somewhere miles away
Is a freshly made bed
In a newly cleaned
room
On the second floor
Of a remodeled inn.
It waits there silently
Like a new bride,
Pondering the night
ahead.
The sheets are cool and crisp,
The drapes half closed.
In the
bathroom,
Towels draped carefully
New soap on the counter,
The toilet
bowl clean and fresh.
The ice machine clinks and tinkles,
The soda machine hums.
The hallway
is softly illuminated,
The carpet newly vacumned.
Everything is ready and
waiting
For the next guest.
The room has no idea
That it is within her walls
That our hearts will
leap
And our souls will fly.
