Reality Check
She sits on the edge
of the bed.
Her head hangs
as if the
weight of it
is too heavy for her neck.
A tear edges slowly
down her
cheek.
She makes no effort
to wipe it away.
It would cost too
much
to raise her hand.
A slight shudder
shakes her body,
a
sigh,
a gasp,
a whimper
escapes trembling lips.
In time...
she will rise,
Her feet will take her
out of this
room
that has been her reality
for the last four days.
She will move
into
The fantasy that is her life
without her love.
Shuffling through the
daze
until she can reach
the real world
That exists in her lover's arms.
