Holidays
Another holiday
spent with family and friends.
The
kitchen warm with smells
of roasting meat
baking bread and savory
pastry.
The air filled with laughter
and gaiety
As people embrace,
kiss
and regale each other
with news
of what has happened
since
the last family gathering.
Such a wonderful occasion.
No one sees the
tear drops
in the salad.
Or knows the bread was kneaded
out of pure
frustration,
The pie filling flavored
with despair.
No one
understands but you,
sitting alone in a restaurant
on the other side of
town.
While I am alone
in a house full of people,
Wishing I could
have
just one holiday...
Alone with you.
