O well done! I commend your pains; And every one shall share i' the gains;
Drafting is a skill that can be learned. Copying is easily learned as well, but to be an artist is to have been born with the gift of sight. It means that you see things that other people ignore, you understand that science cannot explain everything, and you comprehend the idea of alternate worlds, of fairies and unicorns and creatures that most people believe only exist in the pages of a Charles de Lint novel. To be able to pluck an idea out of nowhere and recreate it in clay or metal or paper and pencil is a huge responsibility. It's about expanding the viewer's vocabulary to encompass things there are no words for. A line, a color, a shape can open up whole new dimensions of thought if one will just allow it to happen. Unfortunately there are those who find that living in a black and gray world is comfortable, that speaking in one language is useful enough to get by and that traveling outside the limits of their very narrow minds is way too scary to even think about. Art is not for those folks. It is for us. You will find here a few of my favorite pieces. I often forget to chronicle pieces that I have sold, or given away or donated so those you will miss. I regret when that happens, but it does and that's just the way it is. Enjoy.
